SITE VISITS led by LIFE3 project staff
9.00 Depart Careys Manor Hotel, Brockenhurst
9.30 - 10.15 Dames Slough
View a variety of wetland restoration including river, riverine and bog woodland and wet grassland habitats. See how this site is regenerating following the work of the project.
10.30 - 11.45 Highland Water
At this site there will be a discussion on the river restoration work carried out on the Highland Water, including a presentation on the survey and monitoring of its hydrology by the University of Southampton.
12.00 - 13.00 Lunch
13.15 - 14.15 Slufters Inclosure
A chance to see the mire restoration and Inclosure fence removal that has taken place here, along with the effects of past deepening of water courses leading to erosion of the river.
14.30 - 15.30 Newlands Plantation
In this area, delegates will be able to see the extensive riverine and bog woodland restoration that has been carried out, including conifer removal, the in-filling of drainage ditches and the re-introduction of grazing.
